The future begins
Sree Vidyanikethan has always been an institution that has taken up the cause of furthering education and propagating knowledge. But at the same time, we focus on the child’s value-system as much as we value academic excellence. More so as we evolve with time, we are constantly adapting global best practices to nurture generations of students who can surpass the expectations of the world in its ever-growing competitive environment.
Vidyanikethan is a destination for almost every stream of professional education. The trust has schools and professional colleges across several disciplines and is a complete institution for children who are keen to arise successful.
We look forward to welcoming your child so we create a world your child is prepared for.
Chief Executive Officer,
Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Trust
My name is Kieran Eugene Rigney and I have recently been appointed Principal of SVIS. I hail from Ireland and after graduating from University College Dublin (UCD) I completed my M.Sc. in Reading, UK. I spent 5 years working in Agrochemical sales after which I undertook my Teacher Training (PGCE). I have been teaching science for 15 years in UK schools and have spent the past few years as Principal in schools in Phuket, Thailand, Abuja in Nigeria and now SVIS, Tirupati.
School Profile of SVIS
With a reputation for outstanding educational achievement, excellent facilities and enriching extra-curricular activities, SVIS focuses on individual care and inspires students to make the most of their unique talents. SVIS will be recognized as a citadel of education and we provide a first important step towards a new exciting and challenging intellectual journey.
What is so special about SVIS?
As well as preparing students for exams, SVIS prepares them for life.
The school’s uniquely broad curriculum encourages every individual to fulfil their potential academically, but it does more than that. It encourages students to fulfil their potential as human beings. At SVIS, this sense of possibility is presented to its students, every single day.
SVIS’s curriculum encompasses academic ambition; outdoor education; and an active engagement in service to the community by all its students. Add to this an outstanding programme of sport, drama, dance and music where everyone is encouraged to participate.
“I send my children to SVIS because I want them to have an excellent academic education. But I want them to have more than that. I want them to enter the every changing world with a sense of possibility and optimism about themselves and their options.”
I have spent 22 years as a teacher working in the UK, Asia and Africa. The biggest challenges I have faced this school year are getting to know a new community, staff, and students; building relationships with different people; and learning the workings of an Indian school, which has a different culture from my previous positions.
I believe that what we do in school is vital to our world in many ways. Locally, we provide students with a sense of belonging and we connect them to their community. Also, we encourage students to have a positive outlook for what we do as a city. Nationally, we help to develop young people who can examine events within the context of a multicultural nation and understand different viewpoints.
Globally, we want to develop perceptive individuals who have empathy for others and think about the impact their actions will have on those around them. I believe that a strong school leader is someone who can balance being a collaborative administrator within a learning community, an individual manager whom others seek for guidance, and a discerning principal who makes child-focused decisions.
I learn new things each day and that keeps me going. It’s like teaching a new subject for the first time. You’re nervous and you may feel that you’re not as prepared as you’d like to be. However, as the months roll by, you discover things that you didn’t know about yourself and about the students you teach. That’s motivating! Also, each child has a story that needs to be heard. We must take time to hear those stories. We teach children, not subjects — that is important to remember.
