The Environment club is a means by which students can organize themselves to learn more about environmental problems and sustainable practices and also take action to improve their immediate environment. It is a platform where students can learn, share their ideas, become aware, build attitudes and take action in the real world, beyond their classroom.

Club Objectives

  • To impart knowledge to help individuals gain a variety of experiences and acquire a basic understanding of the environment and its associated problems.
  • To encourage students to become better stewards of the environment.
  • To create awareness about environmental issues, build attitudes, and help students take up activities in the real world.
  • To improve the environmental quality of our lives by educating, encouraging, and providing resources for people to practice environmentally conscious habits.

CLUB ACTIVITIES

  • Motivate the students to keep their surroundings green and clean by undertaking the plantation of trees through lectures.
  • Promote ethics of conservation of water by minimizing the use of water.
  • Motivate students to imbibe habits and lifestyle for minimum waste generation, source separation of waste, and disposing of the waste to the nearest storage point.
  • Educate students to create awareness amongst public and sanitary workers, so as to stop the indiscriminate burning of waste which causes respiratory diseases.
  • Sensitize the students to minimize the use of plastic bags, not to throw them in public places as they choke drains and sewers, cause water logging and provide breeding ground for mosquitoes.
  • Organize tree plantation programs.
  • Conduct activities such as Quiz, essay, painting competitions, rallies, skits or dance dramas, marathons etc., regarding various environmental issues.
  • Educate children about the re-use of waste material & preparation of products out of waste through poster competition and "wonder from waste" competition.
  • Organize Nature Trails in Wild Life Sanctuaries/Parks/Forest areas to know about the Biodiversity.
  • Organize cleanliness programs as a part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
  • Conduct debates, seminars, and paper presentations on few essential topics like sustainable agriculture, organic farming, global warming and climatic change, zero waste management, causes and effects of pollution.
  • Organize an open day program where several activities, static and working models and experiments are explained and demonstrated.
  • Celebration of some important days (green days).

  • 22nd March - World water day. Mime program, skit or dance drama
  • 22nd April - Earth day. Poster competition
  • 30th April - Arbor day. Tree plantation program
  • 5th June - World environment day
  • 31st July - School's tree day. Nature Trail in Wild Life Sanctuaries/Parks/Forest areas to learn about the Bio-diversity
  • 7th September - Threatened species day. Seminar presentation about the threatened species
  • Field visit to an organic farm. Invite an organic farmer to the school to do a talk.

Newsletter

Emblems of the Earth
The Club Newsletter will consist of 4 to 8 pages for every quarter in a digital format. Students of the Club will edit and produce this newsletter.

Workshops

Club will partner with different resource persons and organizations to conduct workshops based on an annual calendar.

Competitions

Inter-school, National and state level competitions will be held every quarter.
